Single-ply gets welded or taped patches, built-up roofs get in-kind patches, and metal gets new screws, butyl, and closures. Soaked insulation is replaced before the patch goes down.
Finished repairs are water-tested where that is safe, then photographed. Your report separates what was fixed today from items to watch on the next roof walk.
